Kavanaugh Plumbing Co., Inc. got its beginnings in 1968 when Arthur L. Kavanaugh (Vice President) began working as a union plumbing apprentice for Litvin Plumbing Co. a very well known high-rise plumbing contractor in downtown Chicago. Arthur Kavanaugh spent 14 years in the field as a journeyman moving up to foreman then eventually being asked to estimate in the office. Over the course of 16 years in the office Arthur became Vice President then President of the firm.
Life changes and the American dream called and Kavanaugh Plumbing Co., Inc. was founded in 1998. It was at this time that Arthur’s son was hired. Sean A. Kavanaugh began working for Arthur Kavanaugh after college as Litvin Plumbing’s purchasing agent spending 4 years in there in the same capacity. Sean left Litvin Plumbing in 1996 to join Abbott Industries Inc., (another high-rise plumbing contractor) to be the purchasing agent and a project manager. When Kavanaugh Plumbing was started in 1998 Sean enrolled in Chicago Journeymen Local 130 UA’s 5 years apprentice program becoming a journeyman in 2002.
Over the last eight years we have grown steadily. Building a commercial and industrial service business as well as doing “ground-up” projects. Our latest venture is our residential service division. We thought, “Why can’t we give residential customers the same quality of service and a commitment to excellence that we give our commercial/industrial customers?"

Replace and add roof drains and related downspout
Piping. We were a sub-contractor for Crowther Roofing and Sheet metal. Walsh Construction was the Construction Manager. Plumbing Value $92,000.00
440 W. Ontario
A design build project with Turner SPD. This
project consists of converting a four-story warehouse into an office building. Plumbing value $244,102.00
VA West Side Medical
Renovation of two floors of ambulatory care for
Bouie Construction. Plumbing value $262,200.00
AT&T/TCI
Rehab of 5 telecommunication centers for
Construction Options. Plumbing value $270,000.00
E.port @ 600 W. Chicago Ave.
Replace and add roof drains and related
downspout pipe, furnished and installed super grease basin and related waste and vent piping, adding core toilet rooms and deli in food court. We have been a sub-contractor for Pine Roofing and W.E. O’Neil and are now currently working directly for the owner. Plumbing value $500,000.00
Chicago Theological Seminary/ McGiffert House
University Of Chicago Campus
Renovation of four (4) floors of public toilet rooms,
for Construction Options, at the University of
Chicago, Chicago Theological Seminary Offices.
In addition, we replaced all the water risers and
fixtures branch piping in the four (4) story married
students dormitory known as McGiffert House.
This work was done while the building remain
occupied. Plumbing value $351,000.00

In addition to the above, we have done numerous smaller tenant build outs for other general contractors and we also do the roof drain and downspout replacement for eight roofing contractors.
With reference to our service work, we perform the service work at the Inter-Continental Hotel Chicago; Oak Brook Regency Towers (twin office buildings); J.B. Connor Realty; Onterie Center (441 E. Erie); AT&T Broadband/Media One; IBEW Local 134 of the Electrician’s Union; Development Resources Inc, Catellus Development, The Drake Hotel, The Tremont Hotel, The Rapheal Hotel; and most commercial “cold” calls that come into our office.
